Every Retina battery job follows the same careful workflow because a rushed adhesive-release is how you end up with a damaged trackpad or a punctured cell.

• Diagnose battery health. Hold Option, click the battery indicator, and check the condition (Normal, Service Recommended, Replace Soon, Replace Now). We cross-check in System Information and Coconut Battery for cycle count and capacity.
• Disconnect power safely. Remove the bottom case, disconnect the battery management cable from the logic board, and fully isolate the battery before any adhesive work.
• Adhesive-release fluid. Apply safe adhesive solvent under each cell to dissolve Apple factory glue. Extreme care is required so the fluid does not reach the trackpad directly below the battery.
• Remove, clean, install. Lift the old battery out, clean every trace of residue and fluid (critical: leftover fluid will prevent the new adhesive from bonding), apply fresh adhesive strips, and install the new battery with correct cable routing.
• Calibrate and test. Full discharge then full recharge cycle. Confirm the Mac reports the new battery design capacity correctly before pickup.
