This policy explains how MackTechs handles information in connection with the devices we sell through eBay and our use of eBay’s developer APIs. It applies to our eBay sales activity and to the MackTechs application registered with the eBay Developers Program.
MackTechs is a device reseller. We list and sell refurbished phones, tablets, computers, and related equipment on eBay. We do not provide repair services through eBay, and this policy does not cover our in-store or mail-in repair business.
1. Information we receive
When you buy an item from us on eBay, eBay handles the transaction. eBay collects your information and provides us with the order and shipping details we need to fulfill and ship your purchase, in accordance with eBay’s own privacy notice.
We do not collect information directly from you through eBay, and we have no way to do so. We never receive or handle your payment card details, your eBay password, or your eBay account credentials.
2. Information our application stores
Our application connects to eBay’s APIs to research market prices for devices and to create and manage our own listings and orders.
Our systems are built so that they do not store eBay users’ personal information. When we sync an order, we retain only the information needed to reconcile that sale against our own inventory records, which is the eBay order reference and the identifying details of the item sold. We do not store buyer names, buyer usernames, email addresses, or shipping addresses in our systems.
The one exception is that we record the two-letter U.S. state associated with a sale, which we use to calculate and report sales tax. A state on its own does not identify anyone.
For shipping, we use the order information eBay makes available to us through eBay’s own tools.
MackTechs has claimed an exemption from eBay’s Marketplace Account Deletion notification requirement on the basis described above, because our systems do not store eBay user data.
3. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- fulfill and ship the items you buy from us;
- reconcile sales against our inventory and accounting records;
- calculate and report sales tax;
- handle returns, refunds, and warranty claims; and
- meet our legal, accounting, and tax obligations.
We do not use eBay buyer information for marketing, and we do not add eBay buyers to any mailing list.
4. Sharing
We share information only as needed to complete your order and run our business:
- Shipping carriers, so your item can be delivered.
- Our accountant and our accounting and tax records.
- eBay itself, as part of using the platform.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
We may disclose information if we are required to do so by law or valid legal process, or where we believe it is necessary to protect our rights, our property, or the safety of others.
5. Retention
Because our systems do not store eBay buyers’ personal information, there is generally nothing of that kind for us to retain. We keep sales and accounting records, which identify the order and the item rather than the buyer, for as long as we need them for warranty, accounting, and tax purposes. We do not currently operate a fixed deletion schedule for our business records.
6. Security
We take reasonable measures intended to protect the information we hold from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, including limiting what our systems store in the first place. No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information we hold.
7. Your choices and requests
Because eBay is the party that collects your information when you buy from us, most requests about your personal information should be directed to eBay, which maintains your account and its records. You can manage your information through your eBay account settings and eBay’s privacy tools.
If you believe we hold personal information about you and you would like to know what it is, correct it, or have it deleted, contact us using the details in Section 10. We will respond consistent with applicable law. We may need to verify your identity first, and we may need to keep certain records, such as sales invoices, to meet tax, accounting, or warranty obligations.
8. Children’s privacy
Our listings and services are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date above. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
