We Service the Latest Macs - M2, M3, and M4
Most repair shops stop at the M1 or M2. MackTechs repairs every current-generation MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, including the 2024 and 2025 M3 and M4 releases. Same component-level approach, same OEM-grade panels, same 1-year warranty. If you just unboxed a new Mac last month and cracked the lid, we have a part for it.
M4 MacBook Air 13" and 15"
2025 models A3113, A3240, A3114, and A3241. LCD-only swap from $399, full display assembly quoted on request.
M4 MacBook Pro 14"
Late 2024 and 2025 A3112 and A3185. Liquid Retina XDR panel replacement with OEM-grade parts, LCD from $549.
M4 MacBook Pro 16"
Late 2024 and 2025 A3186. Mini-LED Pro Display replacement with the same component-level care we give every repair, from $599.
M3 MacBook Air 13" and 15"
2024 A3113 and A3114. Common hinge-pinch damage from closing a pen or cable on the keyboard, LCD-only fix from $399.
M3 MacBook Pro 14" and 16"
2023 and 2024 A2918, A2992, and A2991. Cracked screens, backlight failure, and flex cable damage handled in-house.
M2 MacBook Pro 14" and 16"
2023 A2779 and A2780. The most common Pro screens we see this year, LCD-only repairs start at $549.
MacBook Air Screen Repair
Flat pricing for every current MacBook Air generation, from 2018 Intel through M4. Pick your model, click Start Repair, and we will guide you from there.
MacBook Pro Screen Repair
Flat pricing for every current MacBook Pro generation, 13" through 16", Intel and Apple Silicon. Component-level LCD swaps keep your original hinges and housing whenever possible.
Legacy Mac Screen Repair (Pre-2018)
We still repair older MacBooks, including Non-Retina Pro models and the original tapered MacBook Air. Pricing is aggressive because we use pulled and refurbished parts. If parts are hard to find, we will let you know up front.
2012-2015 Retina MacBook Pro? (A1425 / A1502 / A1398)
We can still fix these, but Retina display parts for this generation are hard to source and we mostly work from pulled inventory. It may be time to consider a hassle-free upgrade to one of our newer Macs starting at $399. Either way, get in touch and we will talk it through.
Browse Newer Macs →Which Tier Should I Choose? LCD Only vs Full Display Assembly
LCD Only. We carefully separate your cracked LCD from the rest of the display housing and replace just the panel. This works when your hinges, lid, and camera housing are undamaged. It is much cheaper, same-day or next-day on walk-ins, and it keeps your original hinge, antennas, FaceTime camera, and aluminum chassis. About 80 percent of the screen repairs we see in the shop land here.
Full Display Assembly. We swap the entire display module including the lid, hinges, camera bracket, antenna cables, and display cable. This is the right call when the lid is bent, the hinges are seized from a drop, or the housing is dented from a fall off a desk. It is the fastest fix when the housing is damaged because there is no hinge-fitment risk and no guesswork.
Not sure which one you need? Send us photos for a free diagnosis and we will recommend the right tier for your exact machine before you commit to anything.
Why Our Prices Beat the Competition (Refurb Display Transparency)
Several of our most aggressive price points - especially the $349 A2337 and $449 A2141 full display assemblies - use pulled or refurbished display assemblies. We want to be straight with you about what that means. Every refurb unit that comes through our shop is bench-tested for dead pixels, backlight uniformity, camera function, True Tone behavior, and hinge tension before we install it in your Mac. Minor cosmetic wear on the lid exterior is possible and will be disclosed before we proceed.
If you want a brand-new OEM Apple display assembly instead, we can source one through our supplier network and quote that separately at cost. Most customers choose the refurb tier because the savings are significant. Our refurb pricing is how we beat Apple and many nationwide mail-in shops by $200 to $400 on the same repair. Every refurb install still carries our full 1-year MackTechs warranty, the same as a new OEM part, so you are covered either way.
We do not use aftermarket or no-name LCD panels on any MacBook repair. If we cannot source a quality part for your model we will tell you up front, refund any deposit, and recommend an alternative path such as an upgrade to a newer machine.
2012-2015 Retina MacBook Pro? Consider a Hassle-Free Upgrade
The 13" A1425, 13" A1502, and 15" A1398 Retina MacBook Pros are great machines that served their owners well, but brand-new display parts for these models have been out of the Apple supply chain for years. We can still fix them using tested used parts we pull from donor machines, and we do this repair every week, but it is worth being honest about the math.
A used-parts screen repair on a 2012-2015 Retina MBP runs $249 to $399 depending on the generation. The machine itself is now on macOS Monterey at best, cannot run Ventura or Sonoma, and is no longer receiving security updates from Apple. We can fix these, but it may be time to consider a hassle-free upgrade to one of our newer Macs starting at $399.
Our used Mac inventory includes fully refurbished M1 MacBook Airs, 2018-2020 Intel 13" MacBook Pros, and late-model 15" MacBook Pros, all tested, cleaned, and backed by our shop warranty. Bring your old Retina MBP in for a free honest conversation and we will help you decide whether a repair or an upgrade makes more sense for your budget and use case.
Related Issues: Flexgate and Dust Gate
Before you commit to a full screen replacement, check these two known defects. Both are common on 2016-2019 MacBook Pros and both cost far less than a new display.
Stage-Light or Flickering Screen? That is Flexgate.
2016-2018 13" and 15" MacBook Pros suffer a well-documented display flex cable failure where the bottom of the screen develops a stage-light effect or the backlight cuts out entirely when the lid opens past 45 degrees. We repair this at the component level with a longer flex cable, no full display replacement needed, starting at $199.
Dark Spots Under Your 2016-2017 MBP Display? That is Dust Gate.
Dust particles accumulate under the anti-reflective display coating on 2016-2017 13" and 15" Touch Bar MacBook Pros, causing dark patches and spots that look like dead pixels but actually sit on the glass. We clean and repair these starting at $299 without replacing the full display.
Why Choose MackTechs for MacBook Screen Repair
We have been repairing Mac displays out of our Manayunk storefront since 2014, and MacBook screens are one of the highest-volume jobs on our bench. Every week we see cracked LCDs on current M3 and M4 MacBook Airs, backlight failures on 2016-2019 MacBook Pros, hinge-pinch damage on the A2179 Intel Air, and Flexgate cable failures on 2016-2018 Touch Bar Pros. We know the quirks of each generation, which panels are available as LCD-only parts, which ones require a full display assembly, and which older Retina models have aged out of the supply chain entirely.
Most national repair chains only offer one option: replace the entire display assembly for $600 or more. At MackTechs we offer both LCD-only swaps (which keep your original lid, hinge, antennas, and FaceTime camera) and full assembly replacements when the damage goes beyond the panel itself. The LCD-only approach typically saves customers several hundred dollars compared to a Genius Bar quote. We also run a full microsoldering bench for Flexgate-style flex cable work, backlight circuit repair, and connector rebuilds, which lets us solve problems other shops can only fix by throwing the whole lid away.
Every Mac screen repair comes with a free in-shop diagnosis, a fixed quote within 24 hours, and a 1-year warranty on the completed work. No surprise fees, no upsell, and no pressure. If your MacBook is more than 10 years old and parts are no longer available, we will tell you up front so you can make an informed decision about repair versus upgrade.
MacBook Screen Problems We Fix
If your MacBook display is showing any of the symptoms below, bring it in for a free diagnosis. Some of these issues look identical but require very different repairs, so getting the right diagnosis the first time saves you from paying for the wrong part.
Cracked LCD or Glass
Drops, hinge crush damage from closing a pen or cable in the keyboard, and pressure cracks. Usually an LCD-only repair on Retina models.
Lines Across the Screen
Vertical or horizontal banding caused by a damaged ribbon connector or a cracked internal trace on the panel itself.
Stage Light or Flexgate
Uneven backlight along the bottom edge on 2016-2019 MacBook Pros. See our MacBook Pro Flexgate repair page for flat pricing from $199.
Backlight Failure
The image is still there but invisible without a flashlight. Can be a flex cable, backlight driver, or fuse on the logic board.
Dead or Stuck Pixels
Black, white, or colored dots that do not change with the image. Apple will not replace these under their out-of-warranty pixel policy.
Flickering Display
Usually a worn flex cable, sometimes a T-Con board fault on older Retina panels. Gets progressively worse with every lid open.
Our MacBook Screen Repair Process
Every screen repair follows the same careful bench workflow. Same-day diagnosis is standard for walk-ins, so you will know the exact plan and price within 24 hours of dropping off or shipping in. Most complete repairs are finished within 2 to 4 business days and are backed by our 1-year warranty.
- Free diagnosis. We confirm the display panel is the actual fault, not the GPU, T-Con, or flex cable. We test the Mac on an external monitor first to rule out logic board issues.
- Quote in 24 hours. You get a fixed price before any disassembly starts, and a clear recommendation on LCD-only versus full display assembly.
- Display housing disassembly. On Retina models we open the housing with controlled heat to release the panel without cracking the glass or warping the aluminum frame.
- LCD or assembly swap. We use OEM-grade panels matched to your exact model number, for example A2338, A2179, A2681, A1707, or A1989.
- Test and reassemble. We verify color uniformity, backlight evenness, hinge tension, Touch ID, camera function, and Wi-Fi reception before handover.
