Professional iPad screen repair service at MackTechs for Philadelphia customers

Why iPad Screen Repairs Require Specialized Expertise

iPads are built differently from iPhones. The larger glass surface is bonded to the display with specialized adhesive, and many models use laminated assemblies where the glass and LCD form a single unit. Separating these layers — or replacing them correctly — demands steady hands, heat-controlled tools, and genuine experience. At MackTechs, we’ve repaired thousands of iPad screens and understand the subtle differences between each generation’s construction.

We handle glass-only replacements on models that support it, as well as full display assembly swaps for laminated iPad Pro and iPad Air screens. Every iPad Mini through the latest iPad Pro is within our scope. Each repair includes a warranty so you can feel confident in the work we deliver.

iPad Models We Repair

We fix screens on every iPad Apple has made. Philadelphia customers bring us the full range:

  • iPad Pro — 11-inch and 12.9/13-inch models, all generations including M4 and M2. These use Liquid Retina XDR displays that require precise handling during replacement.
  • iPad Air — M3, M2, and M1 models. Thinner than the Pro but still uses a laminated display that bonds the glass to the LCD.
  • iPad Mini — Mini 7, Mini 6, and older. Compact size but the same repair process as the larger models.
  • Standard iPad — 11th Gen, 10th Gen, and older. These are the most common iPads we see, and parts are always in stock.

Older iPads (Air 2 and earlier) use a non-laminated display where the glass and LCD are separate layers. Newer models bond them together into one assembly. We handle both types.

Common iPad Screen Damage

iPads are big, slippery, and expensive to drop. The screen issues we fix most often:

  • Cracked glass with working display — The most common repair. The LCD still works but the glass digitizer on top is shattered. On older non-laminated iPads, we can replace just the glass. On newer laminated models, the full assembly needs replacing.
  • Black screen or no display — iPad took a hard hit and the LCD panel is damaged internally. Screen shows nothing or has large black areas.
  • Touch not working in certain areas — Glass looks fine but the digitizer is damaged. Common after a corner drop. The iPad responds to touch in some areas but not others.
  • Hairline cracks from pressure — Sat on it, put something heavy on top of it, or it bent slightly in a bag. Thin cracks that spread over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which iPad models can MackTechs repair in Philadelphia?

We service every iPad generation including iPad Pro (all sizes), iPad Air, iPad Mini, and the standard iPad line. Bring any model to our Manayunk shop for a diagnosis.

Is the glass the only thing that needs replacement if my iPad screen cracked?

Not always. If the display beneath the glass still shows a clear image and touch works normally, a glass-only repair may be sufficient. However, if you see discoloration, lines, or dead spots, the LCD or display assembly will also need replacement.

Will I lose my data during an iPad screen repair?

No. Screen repairs do not affect the data stored on your iPad. Your photos, apps, and files remain intact throughout the process.

Do I need an appointment for iPad screen repair?

Appointments are not required. Walk-ins are welcome Monday through Friday from 11 AM to 6 PM. However, if you want to confirm parts availability for your specific iPad model, feel free to call ahead at (215) 914-5775.
