This policy explains how MackTechs (Macktechs LLC, 4329 Main Street, Philadelphia, PA 19127) collects, uses and protects information when you visit macktechs.com, call or text us, or bring us a device to repair, sell or buy.
1. Information we collect
- Contact details you give us: your name, phone number, email address and, for mail-in repairs, your shipping address.
- Device and repair details: the make and model of your device, its serial number or IMEI when you give it to us, the problem you describe, our repair notes, quotes, invoices and warranty history.
- Calls and texts: calls to our shop line are recorded for quality and training purposes, and we tell you at the start of every call. We keep call recordings, transcripts and short call summaries, and the text messages you send us.
- Payments: card payments are handled by our payment processor. We do not store your full card number.
- Our website: the information you enter in our forms, and basic technical information such as your browser type and the pages you visit, collected through server logs and cookies that keep the site working and help us understand how it is used.
When you leave a device with us, we may need to turn it on, test it and use its basic functions to diagnose and confirm the repair. We do not look through your personal content beyond what the repair requires, and we only recover or move data when you ask us to.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to diagnose, repair, test and return your device; to send you quotes, repair updates, pickup notices, invoices and receipts; to answer your questions and schedule visits; to process payments, trade-ins and warranty claims; to ship mail-in repairs; to improve our service and train our team; and to meet our legal and tax obligations.
3. How we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
We share information only with service providers that help us run the shop, and only as much as they need: our payment processor, our phone, text and email providers, shipping carriers for mail-in repairs, the systems we use to manage repairs and host our website, and the service providers that power our automated phone assistant and call summaries. With your permission, we may share the details of your device with a parts supplier or a data recovery lab when your repair needs them. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. The sharing described above excludes this information.
4. Text messages
If you text us, or give us your mobile number and ask for text updates when you check in a repair, we will text you about your inquiry or repair. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving texts, or HELP for help. See our Text Messaging Terms for details.
5. How long we keep information
We keep information for as long as we need it for the purposes above, including repair and warranty records, and for as long as the law requires us to keep business and tax records.
6. Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including access controls and encrypted connections. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your choices
You can ask us to update or delete your contact information, stop texts by replying STOP, or stop emails with the unsubscribe link or by contacting us. We may keep records we are required to keep by law.
8. Children
Our website and services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top.
